Belgian breast cancer patients protected from discrimination with new law

Fantastic news for Belgian breast cancer survivors!

The “Right to be Forgotten” will take effect faster, benefiting around 5,000 individuals confronting breast cancer each year. This means reduced premiums for outstanding balance insurance (needed for mortgages) and guaranteed income insurance for the self-employed.

Here are the key changes:

For individuals with breast cancer in situ, where the tumor is confined to its original tissue, the waiting period is completely eliminated.

For those with early-stage breast cancer that has spread to other tissues but is still small or diagnosed early, the waiting time is reduced to just 1 year.

For individuals diagnosed before the age of 21, the maximum waiting period is adjusted to 5 years (compared to up to 8 years for other beneficiaries).
